If you are packing by yourself – you are strongly advised to consider the following.
- As you are packing, try to line items with crushed Butchers paper and fill all the gaps with crushed Butcher paper also to avoid movement. Put heavy items first and light items on the top.
- Take a few extra minutes to write an inventory list of the items you are packing and/or Label boxes to make unpacking easier.
- Pack your valuables and essentials separately and plan on keeping these items with you.
- Try using Boxes instead of plastic bags. They provide privacy, reduce damage and are stackable. Bags aren't.
- Make sure you have marked all your 'fragile' boxes.
- Try to avoid leaving out lots of small items. Pack them into large boxes.
- Reinforce the bottom of all boxes with Strong packing tape. Fill each box to its capacity, using Butcher paper to eliminate empty spaces.
- Make sure you put heavy items into small boxes for easier lifting while Lightweight items can go in large boxes.
- Try to pack TV's, computers and small appliances in their original boxes if they are kept.
- Do not use duck tape or sticky tape on your furniture, as it will remove its lacquer.
